Title
Report of Committee on Church History Appointed by the Board of Trustees December 22nd 1932 [First Church of Christ, Scientist, 96th Street and Central Park West, New York City]
Subject
The first 50 years or so of the history of Christian Science in New York City, especially the establishment of the First Church and its magnificent building on 96th Street and Central Park West designed by Carrere and Hastings and dedicated in 1903, as well as its founder Augusta Stetson, up to 1909.
Description
The Bloomingdale Neighborhood History Group was given a xerox copy of this report for our files in the Bloomingdale Branch of the New York Public Library on the occasion of a tour of the building on October 25, 2003, before the building was sold and the congregation combined with the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, in its building on 68th Street. The first part is a typewritten overview of the history interspersed with some photographs; the second part is a collection of photographs, and the third part is handwritten excerpts from the early minutes of the church's meetings.
